History of Ponty Mython
Ponty Mython began at a bar called the Windsor
Arms in 1997, where the cast were regulars.
Each member of the cast was involved in comedy
in some fashion, mostly on television. One
fateful night in October, the troupe were all
present at the pub when John Leecs, in a drunken
haze, began spouting nonsensical phrases from
a Hungarian phrasebook, and this became
known as the now famous dirty Johnny sketch.
This became the group’s pilot episode when they
formed the Flying Cavalcade of Whimsy. Later,
in 1999, the group formed Ponty Mython’s Flying
Cavalcade of Whimsy. This TV series ran from
1999 to 2003 when the group disbanded with their
final movie, Ponty Mython in 2003, opening as
a box office smash all over the world.
